Bowral Living

And the wider Southern Highlands Community

Bowral and the Southern Highlands support a host of learning and interest groups to suit every requirement – from U3A (University Of The Third Age) Southern Highlands to Probus to health and fitness classes such as pilates, tai chi, yoga and step to name a few.

The community supports wide-ranging interest groups, from exhibitions and art classes at BDAS (Bowral District Art Society) and Sturt Craft Centre to Fibre groups to National Trust excursions, to a host of garden groups including the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens Association, bridge, bird-watching and photography groups, and local Woodies (woodwork) and Men’s Shed groups to name a few.

Sports minded people can avail themselves of local bowls and golf clubs that also offer social outlets and stage and movie buffs may enjoy exceptional movies screened at Bowral’s acclaimed Empire Cinema and stage productions at Mittagong playhouse, along with Classical Music Club recitals at Berrima Smalls and St Judes.

Pepperfield, Bowral supports local arts and community as major sponsor to Hillview Sculpture Biennial, a burgoening exhibition of contemporary sculpture held in the iconic grounds of historic Hillview, Sutton Forest, New South Wales. Hillview was the former Vice Regal summer retreat of New South Wales Governors from the 1880s to the 1950s, and the exhibition attracts award winning local, national and international artists who exhibit their artworks throughout the grounds and buildings of this heritage listed property.
